Tar Heel native Chip Womick has been writing about Randolph County, North Carolina's people, places, and things for more than 20 years and currently writes for Asheboro's Courier Tribune. Since 1991 he has received numerous awards in a variety of categories in the annual N.C. Press Association competition. Most recently, he won first place in the news feature writing category in the 2007 contest.
