From the installation of a telephone in 1913, to wireless access in 2006, Gadsden Public Library has changed to meet the technological needs of its staff and community. What will never change is the library's importance to the city and the joy of reading that is central to its mission. The Library History Committee selected images from the library's extensive photographic archives to compile this inspiring, pictorial narrative commemorating Gadsden Public Library's centennial. Many of the library's photographs were from the collection of local photographer Bob Scarboro. The library is indebted to Scarboro for his devotion to preserving history for the enrichment of future generations.
