Children’s book author Henry Herz has worked as a defense analyst, software and website developer, and a process-improvement consultant, helping companies become more efficient. He paints miniatures for the fantasy game Warhammer and moderates science fiction / fantasy literature panels at conventions. Herz has written three previous children’s books.

Herz received a bachelor of science in industrial engineering and operations research from Cornell University, master of science in operations research from George Washington University, and master of arts in political science from Georgetown University. He is a certified project management professional, scrum master, and lean six sigma black belt.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Bulfinch’s Mythology instilled in Herz a love of reading, and Where the Wild Things Are inspired his love of monsters and fairy tales. Herz writes to “water the seed of creativity in the minds of young people” by revitalizing tales that have been around for generations. Herz”s sons, Josh and Harrison, help him to write and develop his stories—they are the perfect test readers! A self-proclaimed dog whisperer, Herz lives in San Diego, California, with his two boys.
