As a 50+ year resident of Winston-Salem is a local historian. I am the founder of the West Salem Historical Association. He worked with the National Register of Historic Places and achieved historical status for the West Salem neighborhood. The West Salem neighborhood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in North Carolina. Between 2008-2010, the West Salem Historical Association successfully completed the Preserve America nomination for West Salem. This honor came directly from the White House and the federal government. This is the highest historical nomination.
