The grounds, originally 160 acres with 19 buildings, are now 396 acres with 124 buildings reflecting changing architectural styles.

Many previously unpublished images from the Pettis County Historical Society, the Missouri State Fair, the Missouri State Archives, local historians, and other state agencies have been chosen to give insight into the early years of the Missouri State Fair. Author Rhonda Chalfant holds a PhD in history and has taught at State Fair Community College since 1977. She and her three cats live in Sedalia.
