Bob Withers is a retired reporter and copy editor for the Herald-Dispatch in Huntington, West Virginia, and a Baptist pastor. He has authored or coauthored 15 books and numerous articles in internationally circulated magazines. Most of the images in this book, including an 1823 painting and a few ancient daguerreotypes, came from the attics and scrapbooks of longtime local families (as well as his own), the archives of the Herald-Dispatch, and the Special Collections Department of Marshall University.
