Dr. Rick Simmons was previously the George K. Anding endowed professor and director of honors at Louisiana Tech University. Author of more than 130 published works, including 8 books, his previous works for The History Press include Carolina Beach Music: The Classic Years and Carolina Beach Music from the ’60s to the ’80s: The New Wave, as well as Defending South Carolina’s Coast: The Civil War from Georgetown to Little River and Hidden History of the Grand Strand. He currently lives in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, with his wife, Sue, and teaches at the Georgetown School of Arts and Sciences.
