Authors Rodi Lee and Michael Lynch are local historians who worked to accumulate more than 1,200 historical images of the canyon area. Lee recently retired after 33 years as a California State Parks education and interpretation specialist. Lynch is a veteran state park ranger and currently serves as the park superintendent for the 40,000-acre Auburn State Recreation Area, which contains 40 miles of the American River Canyon. Lynch is also the author of three history books including Images of America: California State Park Rangers.
