Reviews

"After spending the better part of my professional life on this campus, I thought I understood Temple's tremendous contributions over more than a century. But the breadth of achievements chronicled in this book truly deepened my appreciation for our shared legacy.

Many of the figures profiled in this well-researched collection came to Temple with modest means, but a determination to succeed. Others found their passion on our campus. Their accomplishments in the arts, sciences, politics and medicine should be a source of immense pride to every member of the Temple community." -Carolyn Adams, Professor in the Department of Geography and Urban Planning at Temple University

"This is a wonderful body of work...It's a great tribute to our wonderful alumni. I know it will be a great inspiration to many." -Joyce K. Salzberg, Temple University CLA '69, SSW '79 (namesake of the Joyce K. Salzberg Center for Professional Development at Temple)

"In this book, Ronnyjane Goldsmith offers us an inspiring look at Temple University alumni who made exceptional contributions in all walks of life in the US - and around the world. The short yet compelling life histories of the individuals chronicled in this book capture the great American tradition of young people from humble beginnings working hard to get educated and going on to remarkable achievements. Aiding their achievements was, and is, a core mission of great American public universities." -Richard Deeg, PhD, Dean for the College of Liberal Arts and Professor of Political Science at Temple University

"This book is a great read for every Temple student or alum." -Henry J. Lewis, M.D., (B.A. 1969 and J.D. 1973 from Temple,) Temple University Board of Visitors
Author Bio

In 2021, Ronnyjane Goldsmith—public servant, entrepreneur and philanthropist—added author to her moniker with the publication of Temple Made: Profiles in Grit. She now announces the publication of a new must-read book, CCNY Made: Profiles in Grit. Like the alumni she profiles, Goldsmith (BA, MA, PhD) began life at the bottom and found success through luck and determination but most importantly grit. The proceeds from CCNY Made are dedicated to the Delancey Street Fund. Established by Goldsmith in 2018, the Delancey Street Fund is named after the street of the same name in New York City that gave immigrants to America a chance for a better life. The fund provides assistance to students without financial resources who are facing catastrophic life events.
