African Americans of Sanford is a collaboration of Valada Parker Flewellyn, the Sanford Historical Society, the Sanford Museum, and the families and individuals who contributed materials. Valada Parker Flewellyn is a poet, storyteller, three-time author, and coauthor of Jack and Jill of America Incorporated: Into the New Millennium, the history of the oldest black family organization in the country. She is an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and vice president of the Sanford Historical Society.
